Helios

Any time.
Any place.
Anywhere.

Helios lets you effectively plan shoots around natural light. Where in the sky will the sun be at 3pm tomorrow? Where and when will the sun dip under the horizon at sunset? When will the moon be above the cathedral? What day is the best to shoot the Milky Way on our desert location? Helios gives you all the creative and logistical help you need planning shoots on location.

Matthew "Matti" Libatique, ASC

“Helios is a game-changer for me. It translates complex lighting setups into intuitive, precise blueprints that let me sculpt with light before arriving at a location.”

Cinematographer — Maestro, A Star Is Born, Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream

3D light simulation

See how the light will fall, before you arrive.

Through 3D reconstruction, Helios simulates how sunlight will fall on a location throughout the day, both at terrain and building level. Know which side of the street is lit at 4pm before you've packed the van.

After dark

Tools built for night photography.

Plan a shoot long after the sun goes down. Helios pinpoints the sun, moon, and stars at any location and any time, and its Milky Way tools show where the densest clusters of stars will sit in the sky. Light pollution maps reveal how much glow from nearby towns and cities will wash out the night, so you can scout the darkest skies and time the shot for when the Milky Way is exactly where you want it.
